Tips For Keeping Produce Fresh During Transportation

Fruits and vegetables are an important part of our diet. However, most fruits and vegetables delivery services face a common drawback. There is a high probability of some of the produce going bad. 1. Shade

Make sure your produce is well shaded during transportation. The van or truck should have an open compartment. The produce should not be completely packed. Use a plastic sheath to cover the crates. Keep away from sunlight!

2. Refrigeration

Keep the green vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and asparagus, etc. in the lower compartments of the refrigerator. Make sure the temperature is set at around forty degrees Fahrenheit. You can also use ice boxes or ice packs for this purpose.

3. Spraying

Spray the produce with cold water at fixed intervals. This way the moisture won’t accumulate. The produce will remain fresh until you reach your destination.

4. Separation

Make sure you separate the vegetables from the fruits. Keep the green vegetables in a separate ice box or container. They are most likely to go bad. Use containers with holes so that the produce does not rot.
